These Solstice Sound Healing Monochords are available in four different sizes, offering a range of sounds, resonances, string configurations, and price points for different players and applications. Four Sizes, Different Sonic Possibilities

The Solstice collection includes four monochord models, ranging from the compact 12-string MiniChord to the expansive 53-string SuperChord. Each size has its own tonal character, range, depth, and physical presence, making it possible to choose an instrument based on your intended use, preferred sound, available space, and budget.

Smaller models provide a portable and accessible introduction to the monochord while still producing a beautiful field of resonance and overtones. Larger models offer additional strings, expanded range, deeper resonance, and a more enveloping sound that can fill a room during a sound bath or group meditation.

An Intuitive Instrument Anyone Can Play

One of the most appealing qualities of the monochord is how quickly a player can begin creating beautiful music. Rather than learning chords, scales, or complicated fingerings, the player simply brushes or sweeps across the strings and listens as the harmonics unfold.

Different playing techniques reveal different aspects of the instrument. Slowly brushing the strings creates long, flowing waves of sound, while changing the speed, direction, and intensity of the hands can introduce rhythmic movement and shifting textures. The strings can also be played percussively with monochord or dulcimer-style mallets, or gently tapped and articulated with the hands.

The resulting drone provides a beautiful foundation for voice, overtone singing, chanting, meditation, and other acoustic instruments. A monochord can function as both a complete instrument on its own and as a harmonic foundation for a larger musical or sound healing experience.

Each Solstice Sound Healing Monochord is custom designed and handcrafted in Flagstaff, Arizona by an experienced luthier with more than 20 years of instrument-building experience. Careful construction and attention to resonance give each monochord its rich, sustained sound and distinctive harmonic character.
