The Chakras and Chakra Balancing

Chakra is the Sanskrit word for wheel and can be thought of as a spinning wheel of energy around each of the body’s seven key energy centers. These energy centers, from top to bottom are:
- 7 the crown chakra (top of the head)
- 6 the brow chakra (third-eye)
- 5 the throat chakra
- 4 the heart chakra
- 3 the solar plexus chakra
- 2 the sacral chakra (sex organs)
- 1 the root chakra (base of the spine)
Using the directional quality of the didgeridoo, the vibrations can be channeled directly onto any chakra by playing the instrument within inches of the requested area. For example, a desire for a “heart opening experience” can be addressed by placing the end of the didgeridoo inches from the heart area.
Chakras, as explained by many eastern traditions, are aligned in pairs: the root is paired with the brow, the sacrum is paired with the throat, and the solar plexus is paired with the heart. By focusing the vibrations of two didgeridoos on these “counter-chakras,” harmony is attained and energy flow is enhanced. A general chakra balancing consists of approximately ten minutes of didgeridoo vibrations directly onto each of the three chakra pairs.
